The Labrador who was dubbed the ‘saddest dog in the world’ has found a loving new home after being rejected by a second foster family.
Lana’s plight touched the hearts of millions of dog lovers in 2015 after a photo of her looking depressed in her kennel when her foster family returned her went viral.
After 4,000 adoption applications and $15,000 in donations to cover her care; the two-year-old pooch finally found a second home in Ontario; Canada, in January 2016 – but the new owners ditched her just months later.
Now, a third foster home and training program has been found for Lana ahead of May 20. Which is when she was set to be moved from an overcrowded kennel.
‘We are happy to report that Lana has found a foster home and a new training program,’ Canadian non-profit Rescue Dogs Match wrote on their website.
‘RDM would like to thank everyone for their concern and support and we will keep you updated.’
It is not yet known who has chosen to foster Lana’ but MailOnline has contacted the non-profit for further information.
They added that May 20 is Lana’s move date from the overcrowded kennel she was being kept in, not a euthanasia date.
Lana’s rehoming comes just a week after Rescue Dogs Match launched a desperate online appeal for her to foster.
‘May 14 is Lana’s birthday (she will be three);’ they wrote on Facebook last week. ‘Please help find her a foster or forever home. Lana only has until May 20th.’
She was being held at a boarding facility that no longer had the room to keep Lana.
